Milica Simonovski

As a language with the biggest number of words, English has occupied the position of the most commonly spoken language in the world. With its mesmerizing literature, ever expanding vocabulary and huge word bank, it provides us with the most diverse ways for expressing anything we want, and that’s one of the reasons I fell in love with it. As Sir Derek Walcott, a Nobel Prize winning poet, said: “The English language is nobody’s special property. It is the property of the imagination: it is the property of the language itself.

Ali Elsadai

I’m Ali Elsadai and I’m from Libya. I used to study informatics and computing at Singidunum University where I now work as a teaching assistant. My native country, Libya is in the North of Africa, on the Mediterranean sea coast and in the South of Libya there is Sahara, one of the biggest deserts in the world. We have a lot of interesting places and 2.000 km of the Mediterranean sea coast which is really good for tourism.

Marija Valjan

My name is Maria Valjan and I come from America. A lot of people think of it as a land of big opportunities which it is and people are familiar with the life the there. It depends on which part of America you are from, every region is different. I’m from Phoenix, Arizona so it’s the western part and is definitely more different than the East coast. Life there is repetitive, there is not a lot of places to go out, especially for people under the age of 21. Their options are usually the mall or the cinema. They go to school, hang out at their friends houses and that is pretty much what their life consists of. I, myself didn’t much except go to school and go home.

Tamara Jovanovic

Why I study English? is one actually very difficult question and I find numerous answers to it. I study English because I love it and can find myself in it. I feel that English intrigues my curiosity, it shows me that apart from my mother tongue I can find countless new words to express myself. The passion I have for English encourages me to try to transfer my knowledge in different ways – to exchange opinions and to share ideas with other people, my colleagues, friends and acquaintances. Studying English has given me plenty of new opportunities, it has changed my world and it still keeps changing it. The truth is that every language you speak opens a new door in the world for you. Studying anything you love can do the same, so you must strive to find your own voice because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are going to find it at all. I have found mine, and I am proud to state that it is the English language.

Stefan Pecenicic

As someone who loves languages I love learning them and the culture and history of people where those languages are spoken. English language is unique due to the mixture of various European languages like French, Latin and Greek and that’s what makes this language beautiful and interesting. Comparing English with these languages and exploring the origin of English words is something that I love and one of the reasons I study this language. English is also famous for great deal of accents, something that interests me as well, form various British accents to the American and my favourite, Australian, it’s really fun but also useful exploring them. As Lingua Franca, English is great language to speak and study.
