Hi! My name is Đorđe Obradović and I am a fourth-year student at the Faculty for Tourism and Hospitality Management at Singidunum University. In order to escape from my comfort zone and try something completely unknown and new, I decided to apply for Erasmus+ students’ mobility. I wanted to meet new people from different countries, belonging to different cultures. Moreover, I wanted to learn something new and get some lifetime experience.

A colleague of mine who went to an Erasmus+ exchange program and spread the good word, motivated me to apply for this mobility in April. In August, I was already in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Experience

I had a chance to become a student at one of the largest universities in Lithuania – Kanuno Kolegija. All the courses were conducted in English. We focused on practice developing our creativity, working on some practical matters and using our newly-acquired knowledge.

A large portion of the lecturing material was already familiar because of our lectures at Singidunum, thus I had enough knowledge which I improved while studying in Lithuania. I believe all students, who attend lectures at Singidunum University regularly, will not face any problems during Erasmus. Besides lectures, it is important to use the chance and meet new people and different cultures. As a city where you study, Kaunas is a student city and it has something for everyone, from museums and art galleries to a variety of pubs and clubs. This is also a great opportunity to visit the Baltic countries, where we can learn a lot about their culture.

Recommendation

I recommend all colleagues to apply and try this program. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain. I agree that it seems very frightening at first, but as soon as you make friends, you will forget about everything and the whole exchange will be enjoyable for you. I believe that I have made friends for life from all over the world on this exchange and that all the experiences gained in Lithuania will mean something to me in the future.

I would like to thank Singidunum University and the Department for International Cooperation for their trust and the given opportunity!
