My experience of Erasmus+ student mobility at Halic University in Istanbul was truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the vibrant culture, warm hospitality, and rich history that surrounded me. The unique blend of Eastern and Western influences in Turkey created a fascinating backdrop for my academic and personal journey. One of the most significant moments of my Erasmus experience was the opportunity to immerse myself in Turkish university life.
The campus was bustling with energy, and I quickly made friends from all around the world. Together, we engaged in discussions, projects, and even parties that enriched my understanding of different perspectives and cultures.
Exploring the breathtaking landscapes, historical sites, and various parts of both Istanbul and other regions of Turkey never ceased to amaze me with their beauty. As a hiker, I couldn’t resist trekking through the mountains in Turkey, and the natural beauty of this country is indescribable.
The Turkish cuisine was an absolute delight! From delicious kebabs, durums, and soups to sweet baklava and aromatic Turkish tea, every meal was a culinary adventure. I also embraced the tradition of sharing tea with friends and enjoying a Turkish breakfast.
I was fortunate to attend cultural festivals, traditional music performances, and local celebrations, which further enhanced my experience.
Living in Turkey also provided me with a unique perspective on the country’s history, tradition, and social dynamics. Engaging in conversations with locals and delving into Turkey’s rich heritage helped me develop a deeper understanding of its complexity and appreciate its diverse society.
All in all, my Erasmus experience in Turkey was a transformative journey that expanded my horizons, challenged my assumptions, and created lifelong memories. The captivating blend of culture, history, and natural beauty in this country, combined with the warmth and generosity of its people, made it an unforgettable destination for international education and personal growth. I would like to encourage my fellow students to apply for Erasmus+ student mobility and broaden their horizons in every aspect!
