In the world of Erasmus+ mobility, Strahinja Petrović, student in the field of Food Economics, shares an inspiring story of his experiences during two mobility periods, spanning a total of 5 months.
During his placements at prestigious hotels, Hilton (2022) and Kempinski (2023), Strahinja discovered that the kitchen was more than just a place to prepare food; it was a realm of knowledge and self-improvement. His experiences ranged from mastering culinary skills to adapting to the world of 5-star hospitality, where perfection is the norm, and the mentorship is invaluable.
Strahinja’s first encounter with a professional kitchen was at Hilton Costabella in Rijeka in 2022. He absorbed knowledge like a sponge, learning not only from mentors but also through his own initiative.
The unexpected opportunity to further refine his skills came in the following year at the Kempinski Adriatic near Umag, also a 5-star establishment. Though the learning curve wasn’t as steep, Strahinja cherished the camaraderie, unforgettable experiences, and the joy of working in a team.
Through his mobility experiences, he encourages other students, his colleagues, to embrace the opportunities provided by the Erasmus+ Program, not just for teaching, but to fully immerse themselves in the experience and make every moment count.
